Helldivers are an elite Terran mercenary group consisting of the mercenary version of the Marine, Marauder, Firebat, Goliath, and Medic. They will follow you around the map.


Major benefits:

  1. You can no longer get other drop talents (reducing the amount of unwanted talents in your pool)
  2. They have a block passive, so they cannot take more than 50 damage from any attack. (Does not apply to spell damage, such as toxic aura or Yagdra's fire blast)
  3. Compared to Crap Patrol units, they have a massive buff
    1. Weapon Range: +1.5
    2. Armor: +18
    3. Damage: *6
    4. Life: *8
    5. Life Regen: *5
  4. Total DPS against ground targets (not counting bonuses against specific armor types): 577.9098837
  5. Kills from Helldivers count for you for massacre bonuses, just like air support.

Disadvantages:

  1. These minions will try to loosely attack in your general direction and when too far from you (they are busy attacking) they will not redirect themselves to you until the threats are eliminated.
  2. They can easily help tank against bosses. However, when they are dead, they provide no benefit, so you will have to wait until they respawn.
  3. If you are Anvil and you are relying on the Ambush Mastery (cloak while in siege), you will be susceptible to splash damage when your Helldivers are next to you
  4. Leadership provides minimal benefit. It will add a 50% bonus from the base damage. For the marine, is 10 + (55) that much better than 10 + (50)?

Tactics:

On Hellwalker, you can use them to tank the banelings when you take a mastery.
